bullet-dodga

Whew! dodged one here-

My two team members from our last race just bailed on the Sea2Summit race! They both thought it was unrealistically difficult (bah), and I think the zip-line had one of them freaked out. But- two pieces of good news:
- Steve from work is still confirmed to join, so we'll most likely be racing as a duo. I'm hoping for one more (nudge, nudge, John), but we'll have to see.
- Both Charles and Erkan have agreed to drive all the way to Quebec to act as our support team! I cannot believe it! Good on them! Their job will be to ensure Steve and I get to the starts each day, are well-supplied with food and drink, and to meet us at transition points with canoes, harnesses, bikes, and on-the-go nutrition. And hopefully some snappy-snappy picture taking to immortalize our efforts.

Needless to say, I'm feeling pretty lucky to get to do this, and grateful for such generous friends and team-members. I'd better keep my butt in gear with the training.

I had a set-back on Sunday with my back and neck, and finally hopped on the trainer last night, just to see if the pedalling would loosen up those tightened muscles and whatever else is unhappy in my spine. It worked! I did good stretching before and after, and this morning, only my neck hurts. I also tried the CytoMax drink mix while on the bike, and hey- I felt really great with it. I'll have to pick up a bit more, and try it on some real rides. I'm picking up my bike tonight from my bike dude- hopefully chain suck and bottom bracket bad behaviour is fixed.

I'd mention canoeing, but then I fear what Robin would toss into the comments area... Maybe it'll happen tonight, maybe it won't... Charles is looking into the Laurel Creek situation, FYI...
Speaking of Robin, he showed me the new RIM Blackberry at lunch yesterday, and it is pretty freaking cool. I noticed this in the NYTimes this morning: http://www.nytimes.com/2004/09/09/technology/circuits/09stat.html?th But it focusses on the nifty new keyboard and price-points more than anything. The whole interface was much cooler than earlier models, complete with themes. Gasp- I think it's actually cooler than the Treo.

Anywho... lots to do- keep ya posted.
