Working Stiff & Warm Fuzzies

I swear that sometimes I stop blogging just to test if anyone's really reading this thing. Possibly, I've just been super busy, which is also true.

The job has started, and it has made a huge difference in my life. I forgot how hard it is to put in 8 hours in an office. This sounds terrible, since both my parents slogged it out in factories for so long, but - there is something soul-destroying about being in an office, no matter how great the job is. Also- the tyranny of alarm clocks- don't get me started.

I was talking to this Project Manager from our France office yesterday. They work 35 hour weeks, and they have 7 weeks standard vacation. That goes up after you've been there a period of years. That feels so much more healthy and sane than what we do here, and yes, I know it's worse in the States. But it's better in Belgium and Germany!! Those are happy and healthy people, if you've ever noticed!

On not so grass-is-always-greener side, the office environment is too cool and funky to be believed, the side benefits are incredible, and yes, it is everything and more that Maclean's raved about. I'm not going to list it all out, but the article's online somewhere. I'm entered in a contest to name the amazing new Wellness Centre there, and the winner gets a really nice new Rocky Mountain commuter bike. : \
I think some lessons could be learned here. . .

Here is a wonderful favour any or all of you can do for me. I wanted to send some Planet Bean organic chocolate to Kate, so I called up and talked to Kerry there, and asked if I could order some via credit card. She remembered me as a frequent coffee/chocolate buyer, and hearing my plan and delivery challenge issues, OFFERED TO WRAP IT UP NICE AND DELIVER IT herself!!! This is what I love about Guelph!! So here is the favour part-

If you happen by Planet Bean (where else would you get coffee?), go in and ask for Kerry- Let her know, let her boss know, that what she did made someone's day, was completely awesome, and that it's people like her that really make Guelph special.

-it's Warm Fuzzy Day Guelph- get your fuzzy on!! I hope there are enough people going that KERRY hears about this for at least a week. She reportedly made the package really really nice- all at no cost, just purely as a great person thing to do.

Anyway- I need to report for honest work, and before I can honestly sit there for 8 hours, I need some more coffee.

And tonight- I need to keep working on this apartment. My love comes to visit tomorrow, and I want to not have boxes and books strewn everywhere.

OH MY GOD- and L Word??? L WORD!!!! Episode 10 killed me... They finally knocked the dust off their writing hands and killed me. Aaaaaccckk.
