They do things differently out here. Some of it makes sense... I bought Lay's curry-flavoured chips today, and washed it down with a mocha soy milk. Cab drivers and pizza delivery folk are happy- everything is done in "hundred blocks." Once I learn what this means, I'll apparently be all set. I learned that the main streets are not the ones to drive on, and that you can cut in half the time you spend driving once you learn the good routes. (so far this means roaring down residential side streets). Meeting people who drive for a living may be the most time-efficient thing you can do. I downloaded 2 episodes of the L Word in less than 2 hours (although my speakers are in a moving van somewhere, dammit). High speed out here is totally kick-ass.
I've been meeting people, and having little tiny social adventures. I met a friend and a couple of bonafide weirdos tonight, who of course I liked. I was loaned a ball-glove too, and I guess the goal now is to actually practice with it. The other goal is some wardrobe upgrading for the new job, which I have post-phoned long enough.
But what I really wanna do is go biking. I hear there are great snow-shoe trails in the mountains too. Forecast for the week- rain, rain, rain. This stops no one from doing sunny day things like playing soccer, biking, or walking on the beach. A whole province in denial.
