Controller.Controller was great the other night, although Nirmala's beautiful voice was a little muffled by the sound system. We were tired puppies when we showed up, but the energy was high, and we had a pretty great time.
It's interesting to see how different places glom onto online communities. I've noticed that folks out West seem to be on superdyke and into msn spaces, whereas here it's all about LJ and friendster. Although I think the Guelph friendster fascination may be directly traced to one or two compelling and determined women... Still, did you ever have to finally decide?
Food- I ate strikingly poorly on my Vancouver long-weekend, despite good advice on veggy-friendly restaurants and frequent forays to downtown restaurants. Living in a hotel for 5 days means you're out of reach of your fruit and protein smoothies, not within arm's reach of vast quantities of garlic and ginger, and the tempeh and soymilk are vague memories. Instead, there was a well stocked bar-fridge ($8 for a vodka cooler), and too many snack-options to resist them all... So I ate sporadically, and came home a little nutrition deprived and low energy. It's funny to think that I used to eat that way all the time.
News- Next Thursday the 16th marks my farewell to Guelph. My apartment should be in its final packing stages by then, but perhaps some pre-drinks could be had, and then a trajectory to the Albion might be realized. The music has been so good there lately, and lots of happy dancing. So, if you wanted to say goodbye before my next cross-country road-trip, that's your chance. I hope to see you there!
