This is it- my last day as an Ontario resident! The movers were here this morning, delighted at my packing and organizing work (and the main-levelness of my house), and they even packed the kayak the way I asked. Nice. Dallas was mildly disturbed by strangers coming in and taking away all "our" stuff, but she was really good. I think she finally figured out that me, her and the furniture are what passes for continuity around here.
My neighbour was kind enough to help haul an old loveseat, TV, and other assorted crap to Value Village, which was originally destined for the dump. Everything else slated for the dump (closed due to the city-wide strike) he actually wanted. An old A/C, chairs, tarps, loose batteries, camping fuel, lawn-chairs, you name it. He says his girlfriend's gonna kill him, and I believe it.
So tomorrow is the start of our big road-trip! Today is laundry, last computer/ iPod organizing stuff, a trip to CAA, a grocery shop for semi-healthful foods to eat instead of take-out, and a couple last-minute visits. And sadly, the cable-modem returned to Rogers... How I will miss you!
The Thursday night partying thing went down super well, despite road-closures and lightning and pouring rain. Thanks to all who braved miserable weather to bid me farewell, even if I can't remember the whole night. I do remember a lot of laughing, fooling around and dancing. If you couldn't make it, you can always tell me you did, and I won't be able to contradict you. : )
Two other major highlights these last few days- a visit with MJ and Annette, and a lovely lunch with my old workmates from CX and agfa. Hard to believe I'll be hooking up with a whole new round of future work buddies in just two weeks. Hard to believe I'll be waking up to fresh ocean-side air every morning, and having to decide whether to ride my bike or go skiing... Ahhh, decisions.
All the best, you guys. Thanks for everything.
