put on yer shoes

where oh where have my salsa dancin' shoes gone? I'm sitting here at work listening to Blue Sonoko and thinking back, waaay back, to the last time I went salsa dancin' - I am sure it was last fall. I think it involved the beautiful red-haired Canoe-trippin' woman of the West, who is perhaps returning soon? Anyway, my own absence has to be a mercy to those who couldn't avoid watching me in action, but I miss it.

Speaking of shoes! Charles just bought a nice pair of Salomon XA Trail Running Shoes- and I'm envious. The shoes that betrayed me in my race have been consigned to the garden as bug repellent, so I couldn't be more in the market. Adventure Guide here in Waterloo also has a 30% off sale on all sandals, which is good timing - this last pair of Tevas has withstood all challenges for the last 4 years, and they're due for retirement. Late night dog-walks and soft foods from here on out.

Two new things I like a lot- The new WinAmp 5 and Mozilla's FireFox (I may have mentioned this before).

Two semi-new things I like even more- bike rides at noon and my Suunto X6. It's cooler than you think to know your direction of travel, altitude, and heart rate at all times, and this set of data points correlates so nicely to my lunch-time bike rides. I have taken to keeping logs of my all-out rides, and I download them from my watch onto the pretty-dang-sophisticated Suunto Activity Manager (SAM for short). I can see charts and graphs and progress indicators, oh my!! I have an alarm set to warn me when my heartrate goes above anaerobic implosion levels, and I can see that plotted out too. (hey, I almost died there! See, look!!)

One new thing I like but am discouraged from pissing my money away on, the new iPod- no, not the sexy young one in a mini format- but the bigger, beefier 20 & 40 Gb models. Sometimes skinny ain't skinny.
