One of my busiest work weeks of the summer! I've picked up some projects from another PM on vacation, and it's a challenge to handle all the issues and players involved. But onward ho! The weekend approaches, and things are still progressing.
The weekend will be a busy one. I am taking my lovely girl off for a romantic canoe and picnic at Guelph Lake Saturday, weather permitting. I need to think of something wonderful to bring for food, and I'll pick up a nice bottle of wine for us. Mmm... I haven't done anything really nice for her in a while, and she deserves it. Would a gift be appropriate? Must think!!
If there's time, I'll go for a long bike-ride Saturday morning, and then Sunday, Robin, Charles and I are off to the Steel City for Wildereness Navigation 201. this course promises: "Learn about handrails, catching features and attack points. Practice "aiming-off", "attacking from above" and "contouring." Learn about pace counting and distance judgment. Relocation techniques are practiced in the woods. Discover how planning ahead can help you stay on track. The role of the navigator is also presented."- sounds more like army boot camp than adventure race training, but hey- the last course was amazing.
And maybe next time I visit the desert, I won't find myself lost, exhausted, and horribly ill-prepared while cursing Robin's navigating and Rider Mel's map-drawing skills. And another thing- those little piles of pebbles and rocks were not "cairns!!"
To aid in this mission, a Suunto X6HRM has just been acquired.
