Silly Bear

I awoke thinking of how, hours after writing a very mildly incendiary letter to the Globe on the subject of the French riots, I was contacted by a market research firm (or C-S-I-S) asking about my views and political activities. My letter was not published, but 48 others were, all of which were safe, sanitary and certainly did not suggest we prefer to live lives of sleeping complacency than to see what is all around us. I must stop reading that rag. "Pretty friendship 'tis to rhyme your friends to death before their time..."

bah. I note that Lexus has an all new SUV from which they can peer through dark windows in comfort and comes in black. I'm sure Toronto's new police chief has already described a critical shortage of these in this year's budget proposal. Maybe I should write something really incendiary.

Another happy bike ride yesterday, marking the re-beginning of a beautiful tradition. Karen and I took off on the James Street trail instead of roads yesterday afternoon, and at only an hour's duration, we were both left wanting more- but darkness and being too cheap to buy night-lights forced us home. If it dries up out there, my tires may just take advantage of continuing mild temperatures. Karen is leaving early next week, and this little reunion is going to come to an end, as if returning to one's lover in another country is more important than bike-rides with me. A little perspective, people!!

Anyway, the bike ride helped undo some of the damage to my back that bathing Dallas did. My parents were shocked at how smelly and awful she looked, and insisted on a bath. Thankfully, my mom got in the tub too, and the three of us struggled through it. Today she is the right colour again, with a flowery fresh scent! If you were ever curious what she's supposed to look/smell like, quick- now's the time to come over, before the next romp into the Speed River.

I've been playing around a little with Adobe Premier, and today I'll begin the process of adding some video "assets" to my still nearly empty hard drive. I've got hours and hours of footage from last year's road trip across the US of A, and many more hours of kayaking and mountain driving from this year's. The challege will be to do something interesting with all that scenery, but first things first- how do I put my name on the credits?

-- update --

Isn't it funny how all men seem to care about is a woman's weight?

And, I've just finished Star Wars III: Revenge of the Sith. I'm happy because I didn't know there was a new Star Wars movie, so I didn't have to wait for it to come out. I love those light sabers!
