Geek fest
So I took that training course last night on field navigation which was really good. The instructor was just amazing. She's been racing since she was about 12 years old, and goes to the Worlds in Orienteering. I feel pumped for this adventure race, which is going to be very challenging. I thought all I had to worry about was whipping my butt into shape- now I'm seeing how freakin' difficult it's going to be to find all these checkpoints in the woods/water/ and over bike trails. After our recent adventure getting lost in Hardwood Hills, I'm having a hard time imagining following a compass point while winding my way up and down bike trails that double back and criss-cross all over... Yikes!
So JenBo passed her big test at Berkeley, and the relief in her LiveJournal is palpable. Way to go Jenny!! I hope you get some extra-special muffins in the mail... hahaha
And in other news... the Green Party took more than their required 2% of the popular federal vote, so they now qualify for over a million dollars a year in funding!!! In fact, they claimed over 4% of the popular vote (and over 7% in Guelph)- which is about 1/10 of what the winning Liberals got. We'll be seeing more of them next election, I think. Way to go Greens!
Ok, and in my ongoing quest for the perfect watch, I'm all about the Suunto. Their watches are stuffed with crazy features, and come with hot-synching performance logs you can monitor with their Activity Manager OR online at SuuntoSports.com, their crazy in-depth support community...
