The last 2 weeks have been spent between London and Toronto, visiting family, and experiencing what "normal living" looks like, with all the conveniences of a bricks and mortar home. My brother has a zillion-inch TV in his living room, with X-Box, tonnes of movies and games, and drums and guitars are just a USB cord away from BIG FUN. They were home-base for us while we went here and there, but mostly we stayed put, getting re-acquainted, chilling out, and with always-on Wifi and climate control. Our biggest problem was subbing in our ultra-deluxe coffee for Bob's sawdust version.
We are now in Waterloo, in an RV park called Green Acres (really, who could resist?). It's right next to the Laurel Creek Conservation area. So we're hanging once again with the seasonal crowds and the blue-hairs, which is kind of nice. I had no idea all these years how many people spend entire May-September seasons in these cutesy little places. I would have been living/owning here eons ago if I had. Here's a fact that might surprise you- most parks offering seasonal rates- that is 5 full months- offer the entire season for $1500. I am still reeling at the premiums I've paid over the years. Our Vancouver apartment cost us $1400/month! Now you know...
In contrast to this economical method, we traveled in the most expensive way possible: nightly rates between $21-$45/night, with an occasional weekly rate thrown in where we stayed a while. Monthly rates, now that I'm on the topic, seem to range from $400-$650. It is the seasonal campers who make out like bandits, and Green Acres is actually one of the nicer places we've seen so far. Surprisingly, it's still packed with campers.
This winter, we will head for warmer parts, either out West or down South, and we'll snag a cheap-o rate too. It's great to move around and see lots of things, but is a whole different price point. We might even take a seasonal rate somewhere central, and then while keeping that place, move around from there. Utah is nice... ahem, or maybe Baja!
For now, the job is getting settled back in here and finally giving friends a call. Or you can reach us too- at 604-619-7334!
