We've made it out of our apartment, and into the Airstream!!! We picked it up Saturday afternoon, and by evening, we ventured tentatively out of the dealer's parking lot- all 31 feet of silver trailer, and another 15 or so feet of ugly diesel pick-up truck. Making it all the more nerve-wracking was the brake controller sending red warning messages saying, "trailer disconnected! no connection to trailer!" Many systems tests later, we were on the Canada Number 1 highway, to the closest trailer park around, in Burnaby. My knuckles are just now regaining their natural colour.
A new friend named Danny, volunteered to help the newbies back into a spot, and then figure out how to detach the hitch, level the trailer, and basically trouble-shoot our setup for the next three days. He is a Godsend. Probably literally. We had a water leak that he fixed, an unsecured trailer hitch that he had an extra lock for, and a ladder for when I sent the awning hook flying up out of accessible reach. Despite an asinine dogs rule here, (which could only be conceived of in Vancouver!), we've ended up in a pretty decent first spot.
We've been making some "loose-ends" trips between here and Vancouver-proper for the last 2 days, but hopefully they're almost at an end. We want to be free of it.
Before we leave the overall area, there is the matter of friends to say farewell to. For those who wish, you can reach us here:
