I bought Final Cut Studio the other day, and it’s so easy and intuitive to use, it’s just ridiculous. Thanks to some excellent included manuals, and my Lynda.com subscription, I’m making good progress there already. The new video camera purchase is on hold until my friend has time to help me find the right one, so I’m messing around with loads of DV video we’ve done nothing with until now.
And we bought an Airstream. (!!!) You know, those mythical silver travel-trailers that you see and wonder, "are they still making those??" Yeah, those ones. There's a reason you don't see many of them- they cost more than the house I grew up in (which, by the way had a quarter of an acre and an in-ground pool). The solar package we had added on cost more than my first three cars combined. Even the hitch costs a fortune! But, oh the promises she whispered seductively in my ear- "Von... let me take you on endless adventures... let me provide a full kitchen, bathroom with shower, and air-conditioning so you can leave Dallas for those hikes she just can't do anymore.... We can roam freely, on the road together, for years...". Heady stuff!
Recent purchases of the Mac and FinalCut evidently caused my tight-fisted hands to unclench and allow cash to be put down. Perhaps also the memories of last year's vacation, where Dallas had to remain at our side the whole time. Instead of the Queen Charlottes, we did Vancouver Island. Instead of adventurous day trips, we did beach-combing. This summer... we don't have to be afraid to leave her undefended and over-heating in a tent when we need to. She can be abandoned in safety and style, her little eyes peeping from the climate-controlled shell, watching our backs recede.... "guys...? GUYS...??"
Well, perhaps the most compelling factor of all, is that our involvement with MonaVie continues to be life-altering. Despite very sporadic efforts here, we're already making decent money at this. We have been so distracted lately, but it's already taken on a life of its own, with people we've enrolled now sharing with others. I have been utterly and pleasantly surprised at every turn with this company- their product rocks, and they are definitely behaving as advertised- 50% of sales end up paid out to distributors each week. Being with a company that works so ethically has really begun to make me bitter about all my years working in software corporations. 'Nuff said!
There was a light dusting of snow on the ground this morning, so I was off with my camera (and Dallas) to the Kits dog beach. Along the way, I stopped to snap a few more Spring in Vancouver pictures. I wish there had been sunshine though- Hope you enjoy them!!
