I'm back from India, and my body is still recovering from 60 hours of travel and 2 complete time-zone flips in one week. At first I thought I'd recovered freakishly well, but it has caught up with me through the week. Yesterday I slept until noon, and still felt like a zombie all day. If my in-box is any indication, lots of other people are in the same boat.
Kate and I have been playing cards lately, and last night we tried Euchre again. Somehow Kate escaped the 60,000 or so hours of cards I thought were regulation high-school learning, so most games are fairly new to her. It's hard to remember what it felt like to be new to this game, with all its rules and conventions.
Still, she has to be the world's worst renegger, with quite a bit of proclaimed confusion over whether a diamond wasn't actually a spade, even after a couple hours of play. Hmmm. There are also persistent issues such as picking up the kitty, and then returning to her original hand (oops, no that hand was better- wait, what's trump again?), and general funny dealing habits.
I had been daydreaming about playing euchre in a foursome, but the thought of avid euchre players freaking out at each little infraction has slowed me down for the time being.
I have a huffing Dallas staring at me desperately right now though, so on to other morning things.
