So the big news recently is the purchase of an 80lb leather heavy-bag, complete with 14oz boxing gloves, a split weight-bench with barbell rack, barbell, and a zillion free weights. All of this was for one hundred bucks; thank-you CraigsList. In the next couple days, we’ll figure out installing the heavy-bag in the garage, and making room for the weight-bench. The garage is beginning to look like a 14 year old boy’s paradise. No, I am not making an analogy… And if you’re wondering how woman with back-injury can use punching bag- the secret is in not actually killing the end-point- you should make your shots with loose opened hand. It’s the accuracy and snap that’s the real goal, complete with lots of core rotation and fluid footwork around the bag (as shadow-opponent). Not as easy as it sounds, and perfect for core-strength training.
Some loyal readers may have been solicited for terribly romantic Valentines ideas, or even participated in the purchase of desserts, chocolates, or bringing in a thermos for the hot, spiked drink I planned to unveil in the woods on a snow-shoe trail by candle-light. Thank you for your support, great ideas, and help.
I cannot regale you with recounts of the starlight, the soft sigh of winter wind through alpine woods, perhaps the sight of a fox darting away, and our candle-lit picnic. Instead, I give you only the bullet-points of: ugly table purchase (instantly regretted), 2 hours of boxing videos, and at night end, both of us nursing burn-wounds from spilled candle wax with crushed ice in ziplocs. We have agreed to a Valentine’s re-do.
The boxing videos were pulled down from this tremendous resource: http://www.boxing-videos.net UTorrent works great with it.
