Astonishly unmotivated to look for work.
I sit here, surfing BikeMag.com (ordered the new Unchained freestyle bike video, la la la) and pretending to look for work instead of a new computer.
but with all this time on my hands, it's impossible not to notice Apple's new line of gizmos- the iMac finally seems ok. Thoughts on crossing the line?? I'm a little freaked. Is it wise to switch OS paradigms? I hear they've done away with folders! It's blasphemy to the MIS kid in me. Searching's what you do when all else fails, isn't it? Well isn't it??
Also- feeling very smug and vindicated for getting the iPod super-edition, with the photos, colour screen, and wacky gigs of memory. Turns out Video magically works on it now, thenk-you very much. What foresight. Please send phone attachment soon and I will forgive you for overcharging. But basically, I know next to nothing about Macs, and I'm nervous to make the jump. What if I'm disappointed and poor?
Or, what if i get the new iMac, and they come out with a heartstopping new PowerBook that is all that?? Should I wait for one more, "oh and one last thing..." from Jobsie? And what's with all the oh, but there might be problems? It's all so confusing.
I've been all over the map in next jobs. I thought I at least had some of this worked out over my 3,000 bonfires, but the theory gets shakey when I think about budgeting. I must have toys, so I must work- I know that much. But how much of a corporate sell-out must I be exactly? Can I afford to buy a new computer AND become a surf instructor? Perhaps not a likely scenario... More likely is bike incidents requiring new hardware, and a new sport or two every year 'til I die. These are the demons I wrestle with.
So for now, I go click click click on all those links I never had time or interest for. I demand more attentive blogging from my friends. I talk with enthusiasm but apply for zero jobs and watch Survivor with my family. I think even Dallas is wishing I'd get on with something.
Tomorrow's a big productie day for me though. I get my new winter tires installed! And not the X-Ice ones advertised at $59 (if you own a dinky car) but which go for $179 EACH if you own an Element. Nice. Yeah yeah, I know- very rare wheel size. I found Something much cheaper which promises to produce a lot of road noise, but they do look pretty tough. They'll go with me then, I figured.
