Disco has been in doggy daycare from Tuesday to Thursday... She is totally loving it. The dogs that come in and out of that place have to be the happiest on the planet. They all arrive in pretty nice vehicles (via indulgent people with $26/day of discretionary spending for dogs...), and they are all young, healthy, well adjusted (or they aren't allowed to play!), and they get all the exercise they can handle.
I myself am not this indulgent. I've just been backed into a corner. Have I ever told you about her separation anxiety issues?? This dog howls like a crazy motha, and she howls and screams so long and loudly, she's horse in half an hou. The neighbours eye me resentfully if I leave and come back. "Your dog's been howling, eh?" Mean eye, cocked head, like they're trying to decide if I'm just stupid or willfully stupid. I've got to break her. Anyway, I thought I had a reprieve of this daycare crap for a couple of days-
She was supposed to have had her operatoin, her spay yesterday, but in completely typical fashion, I forgot. The dogs woke me up at just after 6am, barking and frolicking and fighting, finally forcing me to stumble out of bed and downstairs. They raced to the door, I stumbled behind, letting them out, and then they bounded into the kitchen. Of course I followed and fed them, moving like an automaton. Whoops!!
Not realizing my error, I then got ready, loaded Disco into the car, and off we went way down to the South end to the vet. I'm still on auto-pilot, without enough caffeine in my system yet. The technician's first sentence? "When was the last time Disco had food?" D'oh!!! Mighty slap to my own forehead, and a rebooking to next Thursday. Boy, was I grumpy. Since Linda was in Montreal, I had no one to take care of her, and had to divert back for a third day in a row of dog-daycare. Grr.
No plans for this weekend...but I'm thinking mountain-biking!! Steve has his spiffy new Santa Cruz Blur, so I have to get in some kind of shape before he insists on kicking my ass with it.
And I can't imagine who sent me here, but thanks- It's good to know science is working on a cure.
And for those yet to lay eyes on the much bally-hooed Disco Dog, here ya go:
