Oh, the weekend, the lovely weekend!!
I have no plans for the weekend... Usually it's jam-packed with long hikes, snow-shoeing or skiing (really, any activity that will let Dallas run loose and tire herself out), but this weekend I'm between things. Linda's at her parents, and I'm not sure when she's back. Left to my little own devices, what will I do with myself? Actually, I think I will be using the time for some quiet-self-reflection. I am recently becoming aware that i may have some issues. Yes, this is news to me.
In more fun news... there is this nifty little toy I just indulged in- the new iPhoto. It's cool- now I've got my 30Gbs of music and picture storage, but Apple missed the digital camera feature that should be included for this price. What an obvious oversight. Also, I am a not a fan of the OOBE. The out-of-box experience may appeal to geeky 14 year olds, but for those jaded 30-somethings, it just slowed me down getting the damn toy outta of the box, and playing my music. No, I don't think it's clever how you have custom protector plastic around each of the USB and FireWire extensions, and what is all this shaped styrofoam protecting the not-at-all-delicate cables?
Robin kindly helped me set it up last night. As he reads this, he'll be disappointed, but only the teeniest bit surprised that with the first 5 minutes at work, I successfully formatted all the music he gave me right off the hard-drive. The pictures are still there, and since they're of Moab glory, who can quibble over a little technical glitch. Ok, well my machine wouldn't reboot either, 'til I disconnected the Pod, so I may have bigger problems.
Hey Mat- can you just please solve everything with BlueTooth for me? Send a little blue-zap over, and everything's synched up? Why is this stuff so hard, anyway? We figured out radio ages ago. Zap! Remote controllers, Zap!! Robin can control his lighting with an x10 arrangement- Zap!!
In keeping with my absolute ineptitude for electronics- my list of things not working now includes- my car alarm, my watch alarm, and now my iPod thingy (but I'm motivated!). After 6 months of video camera ownership, I have yet to get the digital photos or video off it. I'm such a geek-wanna-be.
I also have a new traffic ticket and at the end of the month, I'm one more year behind in my taxes. This may be sypmtomatic of some repressed something, but who has time to think about that.
I have been getting up early in the mornings, this week- a symptom of going to bed when I want; which is typically on or around 10. It doesn't help me get to the office one minute earlier, but I have been walking Dallas. This morning I took her to the river-walk part of the York Road park. As I did when I lived with Jen, I stopped for a coffee on the way, and then let Dallas loose while I walked, drank, threw the stick while spilling my coffee, and just relaxed. I forgot how nice that little routine was.
Since you're still tuned in despite the lack of real content here- I'll add one last thing- For days now, I've been thinking of taking video of all the poop on the front lawn. Somewhere in the video documentary of my days and ways, it will fit in nicely.
Little frozen poop piles, protruding upward through the snow. They're everywhere, even in the flower-garden. There's enough that I'm sure the neighbours are pissed, but I can't pick them up. They're trapped there. Frozen helplessly in place in their toppled-over, squooshed out, stepped on piles. They look pretty helpless. But we're all helpless. The neighbours, me, the dog and the poop. When I got home last night and let Dallas out (off the leash), she ran down the sidewalk, and skirted the whole yard to pee on the neighbour's yard instead. This morning I went out and kicked them to see if they'd move, but they wouldn't.
