I've been sitting on my hands lately, wanting the new iPhone like a moth wants flame. I have been gearing up for a solid year to get this latest version. And yet... to do it would be to surrender to an abusive 3 year contract with Rogers (aka Robbers). It's annoying in the extreme. Let's see- a 32GB iTouch is... $400, but add a telephone function, and the no-contract price from Robbers jumps to... $800?? I don't think so. On top of that, the voice-plans are ridiculous.
I'm thinking now to wait until the new iTouch's come out, presumably with video, and nab one of those. I know I could get another smartphone much cheaper, but I can see that the app-store is where innovation is going to live for the next while. We'll see how far my resolve lasts. Stay tuned as the gnashing internal conflict between coveting a device and spiting Rogers plays out.
I've reactivated my Twitter account after a couple years on hiatus. You can find me @toughcamper there, twittering my little heart out. I added a feature the other day that allows my Twitter updates to be reproduced as my Facebook updates, whenever I add #fb to the end of a post. Hmm!! Once I add my iWhatever to the list, I'll be just like @aplusk, posting video snippets to URL-shortened posts 5 times daily. Look at me pour my coffee. See Von floss. There's Dallas hopping for breakfast. See my new mosquito bite on my butt from 2 hours of dusk gardening while my shorts rode down. And you'll have front-row tickets, lovely readers-soon-to-be-watchers. We'll experiment together to find the line between easy-to-publish and unbearable-to-download.
In dirt-world news (ha ha, I am heelarious)- the garden is coming up!! To give you an idea of the impossible bounty we'll eventually be confronted with (see Von avoid another split infinitive), here are the bullet-points:
- 3 rows of tomatoe plants (about 30 plants, help!!),
- 3 rows of sweet corn,
- 2 rows of sweet peas,
- 2 rows of cucumbers,
- 1.5 rows of spinach,
- 1.5 rows of beans,
- 1 row of eggplant,
- 1 row of zucchini
- 1 row of pumpkin
- 1 row of carrots
- 1 row of leeks
- 1/2 row of radishes
I'm sure I'm forgetting a row or three here, but you get the point. In the food world, we are Autumns. Everything is doing really well, except that our bean plants look like a crazy person with a hole-punch went through them in a rage. We seem to be infested with lady-bugs of some sort, and we keep meaning to do a soap-water spray thing, but as we intend, the bugs munch, and so far the munchers are winning.
