Just a few more days to catch Dr Horrible's Sing-A-Long Blog before it goes commercial!
We're nearly done our little website project- we uploaded to a test directory last night, and found a couple of things to fix. We didn't get the form submission script widget just right, and it's only been 10 or 11 years since I looked at one of those... I shudder to think how many hours it will take to get it working. The hosting server has a hideous web app for implementing little widget "gems," but the UI is impossible. The code it generates is impenetrable googly-wash. I suspect uploading any external widget won't be allowed, for security reasons, but we may give it a whirl.
The site looks good though- Kate has done a wonderful job. We looked at it last night on a slow-as-molasses connection, and the video streamed really well. Our goal was to make the whole thing fairly light-weight, with easy navigation, and friendly to aging eye-balls. I'll post the website when it's "done-done." As soon as that's finished, we will hit the road at last!! We have totally enjoyed and appreciated our time here (and we've met lots of really lovely people!), but we do feel the urge to head East. Jeff, our host, asked us last night where we were going- when he heard that we had no definite destinations, and zero reservations, he thought we were crazy. It wouldn't be the first time we've heard that! But we have been so insanely focused on our web/video projects that we lost sight of the date- we're about to embark on this trip during the busiest 4 vacation weeks of the year!!! Of course parks will be booked! Ah well, we'll manage something, but maybe a phone call or two wouldn't hurt.
My theory is that with the dollar being high, Americans won't be here in great numbers, and with gas prices being high, Canadians won't be out in as great numbers. Since leaving this morning has been de-railed, I think perhaps we'll ride-out the weekend here (it will be good to leave the trailer for some actual activity...), and then leave Monday morning.
We will eventually be out of here!!
