this is the story of my red right ankle

Whoa... I've written squat lately.

I just took this 3 day course through work- The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. I once bought this book and threw it out after 2 chapters, because I couldn't stomach the excruciatingly obvious stuff. The course is really excellent though- totally polished, and I got a lot of benefit out of it. Amazingly, my mind squeaked open just enough to be communicated with.

Speaking of work- big changes! We have been acquired by the world's largest business software company. The gaping maw of corporatedom follows me wherever I go- there is no escaping from its vortex. I can hardly believe it. I just went through this process at my last company, and it wasn't fun. I have heard they have awesome benefits however, so we shall see... the rumour is a standard 6 weeks of vacation... that seems almost human! But isn't a human(e) corporation an oxymoron?? We shall see...

DEXTER... another ShowTime shock extravaganza. I've been titillated and horrified at the few episodes my delicate constitution has been able to withstand watching. We don't have TV, but we do download or rent movies and shows sometimes. I may be turning into an old lady here, but I'm just not sold on sliding the moral line ever further into depravity in our media. I certainly appreciate the cleverness of the narrative and cinematic style, but these aren't healthy images/thoughts to take under the covers with you at night. After watching Dexter hunt other humans down and dissect them in a silverstream last night, I was at my limit, and asked that the DVD leave the premises. Yuck. In my opinion, Batman, Spiderman and Superman all knew better where to draw the line. You could really super piss them off, but they wouldn't artfully dismember you and put your pieces in garbage bags.

Cops and tasers unleashed on the public scare me even more than Dexter.

Dallas... is doing alright- the medicine she's been on for over 2 months now is at toxic levels in her system, and she's having weird twitches that have us worried about nerve damage. We're monitoring. Interestingly, when we take her off it for a few days, she gets both more mobile and less dull. We've actually woken in the middle of the night to find her standing, squarely facing the wall and huffing. We've lowered the dose... and we lavish her in love.
