atlas went on a bender
and fell

I forgot to mention something I learned while at BC's boring legislature. The motto of British Columbia, once translated from the Latin for the provincial know-nothings: "Abundance without Diminishment."

a fine thought once, wasn't it?

Their original proposition for a flag was rejected, since it went against the everywhere sloganeered, "the sun never sets on the British Empire!"

Interestingly, the rejected but snazzy cut-glass image hangs resplendent in an inner chamber.

I hope it's publication here doesn't offend any of my wide British audience (who has been known to peevishly snort said slogan at an impudent remark of mine (what? gasp!) here or there.)
