the year of living dangerously

Ah... what a beautiful day it is out there. The sun is shining, the earth is warm, and I know that for at least one more warm October night, it won't matter that I'm not allowed to crank the heat to 24 degrees. Jen is a happy happy girl, Robin got some balloons, Guinness and Jagermeister to send him into his 41st year, I got to finally meet Seth, the 40's style comic genius who draws for the New Yorker, and lives just up the street from us. I was a little starstruck, I admit, especially when he talked about his deal with the Johnny Walker folks, and how he was putting his creative foot down, and either getting his way, or not doing their ad. Oooooh! You go Seth, you retro bad-boy! Barry's off to Florida with family firmly in tow, and I am planning my cross-Canada road-trip.

Now there are just hours to the weekend. I had lunch with Trina today *waves,* and picked up some photos from Black's. The fun thing with being me is that by the time I get to the end of a roll, I never have the slightest idea what I took pictures of. I found a couple pics of Andrew and I at Blue Mountain, a picture of Linda's back in a canoe with snapping turtles happily copulating next to us (while Dallas was held from jumping in by my paddle), giraffes, elephants and a wide-mouthed hippo from our day with mom at the zoo, the requisite shot of a light fixture on the ceiling, and ... 10 great shots of Dallas at the cottage that I'm sure must be the best pet pictures ever taken ever. No really! I'll scan a couple in, and post 'em here next week- you'll undoubtedly agree. I've been showing them off here all afternoon, finding other dog lovers to oooh and aahhh over what a puppy she looks like.

We're celebrating our one year anniversary this weekend. Any brilliant ideas of what I should do are welcome. At least I could buy Robin beer, but no... that's not going to cut it this time. Paper's been suggested, but if I give her paper, it'll only be useful as a death certificate... I had a brilliant idea, but Jen quashed that with some vehemence *grumble...*

idea bar is open.
